AUREA Technology Ultrafast Laser Contributes to QuiX Quantum’s Carina Photonic Quantum Computer

AUREA Technology is proud to contribute its ultrafast pulsed laser technology to Carina, the new universal photonic quantum computing architecture developed by QuiX Quantum.

Announced in July 2026 and featured by Forbes, Carina represents an important milestone in the transition of photonic quantum computing from specialized laboratory experiments toward compact, room-temperature systems designed for deployment in customer and data-center environments.

AUREA Technology supplies an ultrafast laser building block used to pump the integrated photon source, contributing to the generation of the high-quality, indistinguishable photons required to encode photonic qubits.

For Jérôme Prieur, co-founder and CEO of AUREA Technology, the collaboration illustrates the increasing importance of industrial-grade photonic building blocks as quantum computing architectures move toward real-world deployment.

The company’s picosecond and ultrafast laser technologies are engineered to combine precise optical timing, low jitter and integration-ready architectures, enabling their use as critical excitation and synchronization building blocks within advanced quantum systems.

Carina was developed by QuiX Quantum within the German Aerospace Center’s DLR Quantum Computing Initiative. The architecture combines photon generation, integrated photonic processing, switching, photon detection and high-speed feed-forward control in a system designed to operate at room temperature and integrate with conventional computing environments.

The project demonstrates a key principle behind AUREA Technology’s product strategy: the future of quantum technologies will depend not only on scientific breakthroughs, but also on the availability of high-performance, reliable and scalable photonic building blocks that system integrators can deploy in complete architectures.
