AUREA Technology today introduces SPD_SLIM_NIR, a new compact and scalable single-photon detection platform designed for quantum communications, advanced LiDAR, optical sensing and industrial photon-counting systems.
Developed under the strategic and technical leadership of Jérôme Prieur, co-founder and CEO of AUREA Technology, SPD_SLIM_NIR addresses a growing challenge faced by photonics system integrators: how to increase the number of photon-detection channels without multiplying bulky laboratory instruments.
The new architecture combines high-performance InGaAs/InP single-photon detection with an unusually compact, integration-ready mechanical format. Multiple detectors can be assembled into a scalable multi-channel configuration suitable for 1U rack integration, while each channel remains independently controlled and serviceable.
SPD_SLIM_NIR operates from 900 to 1700 nm, supports free-running and gated operation up to 100 MHz, provides quantum efficiency up to 30%, and offers timing performance around 150 ps. UART, USB and software interfaces facilitate integration into OEM and system-level architectures.
For Jérôme Prieur, the objective went beyond reducing the size of an existing detector:
“The next generation of quantum and photon-counting systems will require many more optical channels. Our objective with SPD_SLIM_NIR was therefore not simply to build a smaller detector, but to create a detector architecture that can scale naturally from one channel to complete industrial systems.”
The development reflects AUREA Technology’s broader strategy of transforming advanced photonic technologies into compact, reliable and manufacturable building blocks that system integrators can deploy beyond the laboratory.
SPD_SLIM_NIR strengthens AUREA Technology’s growing portfolio of single-photon detectors, precision timing electronics, entangled-photon sources and picosecond lasers for quantum communications, networking and sensing.
